Nicholas Schneider Receives MSA Award
Nicholas Schneider, doctoral student in the laboratory of Haim Bau, professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics, is the recipient of a grant to attend the 18th International Microscopy Congress, where he will present his paper, The Effect of Electron Beam on Aqueous Solution Composition during Liquid Cell Microscopy.
Schneider’s paper was judged to be of “superior quality” by the Microscopy Society of America (MSA) and was therefore awarded the grant to defray travel costs to attend the conference, which will be held September 7-12, 2014, in Prague, Czech Republic.
Schneider is a previous recipient of the Silver Award from the Materials Research Society (MRS), which honors graduate students whose academic achievements and current materials science research display a high level of excellence and distinction. Schneider is also the sole recipient of the 2013 Arthur Nowick Graduate Student Award, which honors the late Dr. Arthur Nowick and his lifelong commitment to teaching and mentoring students in materials science.
